Most of you will probably think I'm an oddball for my attitude toward exhaust pipe discoloration, but ever since I was a boy, I've always been fascinated with the rainbow colors of blue, purple, green, and gold that are created on a motorcycle's headpipes by the heat of the exhaust gases tempering the metal. When I get my used Savage, I hope it will have an attractive discoloration, or should I say COLORATION!
On Bert's photo gallery of European bikes, check out the rich pipe coloration on the Savages of Roland Leikauf, Urs Gwerder, Andreas Bacher, Tammie Matthews, Joachim Copi, and Mark Pardoe. In my opinion, these machines have that special "seasoning"!
